Designer Daisuke Iwanaga has continued to create original bags taking Japanese traditional tastes that attract fans around the worlds.
写真のバッグに使われている素材は、ブランド屈指の人気素材”Urushi Leather”。
日本の伝統工芸である漆塗りを日本の黒毛和牛の革に施している。
2015年”unevenness”（凹凸）をコンセプトに新素材として登場し
現在はブランドを語る上で欠かすことのできないアイコンの一つとなっている。
This “Urushi Leather” on the bag is one of popular material. It is used Japanese cow (Black Wagyu) coated by Urushi the Japanese traditional coating technique.
The special material was revealed as concept “unevenness” at 2015 and became iconic symbol of cornelian taurus by daisuke Iwanaga.
この素材の最大の特徴は漆特有の美しい光沢感。
強いシボの凸部分にのみ漆の加工が施されている為、 光の加減や動きに合わせて上品な輝きを放つ。
The fascination of this material is the beautiful shiny grain. It glitters differently depending on angles because Urushi coats on the bump of the surface.
先述の通り、漆の塗布は皮革表面の凸部分にのみ施されており
これにより牛革本来の馴染みの良い柔らかな質感を保っている。
この質感と漆の美しい表情を際立たせるには、シボ出しという作業が重要となり
これこそがコンセプトの”unevenness”(凹凸)を表現する鍵となる。
シボ出しは国産レザーになめし・染色を施した後、熟練職人の手もみにより長時間かけて行われる。
そして立体感が与えられた皮革表面に漆を何度も塗り込む事で完成するのである。
As I said, Urushi is coated on only bump of leather surface and this process realizes the shiny look and keep the softer feel of cow material.
So the “Hand Graining” is the most important factor for emphasize the “unevenness” the concept of this leather. Hand Graining is very careful process and takes very long time by professional Japanese artisan.
After that, the artisan carefully coats Urushi to unevenness leather surface several times.
また馴染みなどの経年変化にも期待ができる素材である為
バッグのみならず財布やポーチなどの小物類も非常に人気が高い。
