こちらの”988”、通称バックジップブーツである。

ダービーシューズやバッグ同様、シンプルなデザインが際立てるのは、

樽のような染色装置に入れ、回しながらじっくりと染め上げる。

使用される素材は定番のホースレザーを始め、
ドンキー、バッファロー、カーフ、ベイビーカーフ、カンガルー等多岐に渡り、
その素材によって固さやシボ感、色の入り方が異なる。
それらは経年変化にも顕著に現れる。

There are differences of coloring, grain atmosphere, hardness and aging depending on their materials.
写真左はホースレザー、右はカーフレザーである。
ホースレザーの銀面は滑らかなシボをしているのに対し、
カーフレザーはやや強いシボを残している。
個体差はあるものの、比べるとカーフレザーは程良い柔らかさにより、
そしてホースレザーの方がやや固い素材となっており、深い着用皺を表現できる。

写真（左）の履き込んでいない状態に比べて、斜めだったシャフトは直立し、
着用皺をくっきりと残す形で形状記憶されている。
ワイズの幅は広がり、トゥーは反り上がった形状に変化している。
また使用に伴い、革の油分が表面に現れる為、更に光沢感を増している。
このように、使用者の足型に姿を変えるGUIDIレザーの特徴を
