The pair of derby shoes is known as standard and main symbol items when “GUIDI” started on 2005A/W.
The traditional and simple design has got many props for a long time because of the versatility.
ベーシックなデザインが際立てるのは、
やはりGUIDIの伝統的な技術を駆使した「革の存在感」である。
ベジタブルタンニングで丁寧に鞣されたレザーを使用し、
製品としての形を形成した後に、
樽のような染色装置に入れ、回しながらじっくりと染め上げる。
この手法はタンブラーダイと呼ばれる。
樽の中で他の製品とぶつかりながら染色されていく為、革には「よれ感」が生まれ、
独特の風合いを醸し出すようになる。
The basic design emphasizes the excellence of material.
The leather is tanned by vegetables with special care.
It is gradually dyed in barrel by rolling.
The method is called “Tumbler Dye”.
In this processes, shoes got to wear specific atmosphere
because they were hit with other products many times in this barrel.
GUIDIは毎シーズン、ブラック以外のカラーを一新する。
つまりホワイトでもシーズンが異なれば微妙に異なる色合いとなる為、
全く同じ色は二度と作られない。
GUIDI renews all color without black every season.
Hence, the white color is not same to last season one as it appears to be.
使用される素材は人気のホースを始め、
コードヴァン、ドンキー、カーフ、カンガルー等多岐に渡り、
幅広く作品を発表してきた。
素材によって固さやシボ感、色の入り方が異なり、
それらは経年変化にも顕著に現れる。
GUIDI has created many pieces with various leather materials.
They are horse, cordovan, donkey, calf, kangaroo and so on.
There are differences of coloring, grain atmosphere, hardness and aging depending on their materials.
GUIDIの数あるマテリアルの中でもホースレザーは、
最もポピュラーだと言っても過言ではない。
シボ感が滑らかで比較的強い固さを残している反面、
使用者の足に合わせて柔軟に伸びる性質を持つ。
シューズはその形を変え、まるで使用者の足型のような唯一無二の一足が誕生する。
Horse leather is known as the most popular material of them.
The material has smooth grain and little hardness.
On the other hand, it has a feature that stretches and fits on the feet although it is hard.
Therefore, it can adapt to feet flexibly even if they are wide feet or high in the instep.
Consequently, the leather shoes changes to the matchless ones such as foot molds of owner.
そしてこれが２年程履き込んだダービーシューズである。
ワイズは使用者の足幅に合わせて広がっている。
また使用に伴う着用皺はラスト部分にくっきりと残り、アッパーには反りが生まれる。
